I got to talk to Cyndi today! On the telephone! Not on the computer! This is the closest that I've come to actually meeting any of you, since I didn't get to go to convention and I live way away from most of you! Yes, I'm excited! I now have proof that you're not all a figment of my imagination! LOL!

I bought a book last weekend, "Southern Is As Southern Does." It's written by Darrell Huckaby, a local columnist. I read his column in the paper, so when I saw him at a book signing when I was in Dahlonegha last week, I bought a copy. He's considered a "Southern humorist," similar to Lewis Grizzard but not quite. Anyway, he was writing about belonging to a family of readers, and listed the books he read growing up. I was astonished when he listed Trixie Belden! He did claim that they were his sister's, but he read them! I just thought that was neat!

I think I'm getting addicted to emode! Just what I needed, another place to spend too much time! *g* After I took the friends test, I was telling my sister about it. I don't watch much television, but she knows those characters inside and out. She immediately guessed which one the test said I was! LOL, I guess it must not have been too far off! She was Monica, btw! Today, I took the ultimate personality test. Let's see: I'm a poet!

Poet

You're complex, artistic, and misunderstood. You enjoy a rich inner life. You're often seen sitting alone in a café, scribbling thoughts in a journal. Or maybe leafing through the pages of some dusty, arcane novel from the 17th century. You're shy and quiet, and you enjoy peaceful, comfortable environments. When you get older, you're going to listen to Musak.

You work hard to do the right thing, and you sometimes beat yourself up for making mistakes. While you don't make friends all that easily, you relish the ones you have. Everyone else thinks you're a bit loony — but who cares, right? You enjoy intense one-on-ones or small, intimate dinner parties. You dig candles. And you're an interesting person to know, full of insights and inspiration, even though you're sometimes hesitant to express them.

You don't like to juggle too much at work, and you can get stressed out by major job upheavals. You prefer to sit alone in your cubicle, working diligently on your own projects while dreaming of becoming a shepherd. You enjoy harmonious working relationships and avoid coworkers who send porn over company email.

Most of that really describes me, although I must admit that I already do listen to Muzak sometimes! *g*

I can't believe it's the week-end already! Time seems to be flying by. This year will be over before I really realize it, I think. I have gotten a lot accomplished this week, even gotten some fan fiction done! Of course, having a job that allows me to work on fanfiction while I work is wonderful! (Although I do have a few job duties, I have a lot of spare time. My main function is to simply keep the city hall open so that people can call or come by to pay water bills. And to be there if something major happens, like a water line breaking, so that I can call our maintenance man to go fix it. The actual work can actually be accomplished in one or two days, but the city decided to keep city hall open five days a week. Which means they hired me! Yes, I really do love my job!)

Ok, I'm doing better now than I was last week. On my last post, it just seemed like everything was happening at once. Things are definitely going better now! Well, at least I'm not so stressed out about them! *g*
Thanks to other blogs, I've now discovered e-mode! I just took the friends test. I was a little surprised by my answer, but maybe it's more on target than I first thought! LOL!

Phoebe

Um, ok! You're, like Phoebe. Ok, so you may not have Phoebe's, well, special intuition or, um, musical talent. But, like everyone's favorite beautiful-blond-psychic-masseuse, you never lie and your friends are the most important thing in your life.

With an utterly free spirit like yours, some people see you as flaky. But creative, perceptive-as-heck, and eerily wise is more like it. You see the good in everyone, which could make your dating life a bit, well, uneven. But you always land on your feet with your humor, kindness, (and who-knows-what-from-beyond) as your guide.

Off to surf some more! :-)

I know I haven't really been around that much this week, and I apologize to all of you wonderful writers who posted stories in the past few days. Of course, it has been so good to log on and find stories to read! Especially since I'm kinda feeling overwhelmed right now. I'm still worried about my sister, especially since she's started talking to him on the phone again. Add to that other life situations happening this week, and I'm just glad of the respite from reality found in fanfic!
Went to Dahlonegha yesterday. I love it up there! There's just something about the mountains, especially this time of year. The leaves were beautiful where they're changing color! To me, though, looking up at the mountains is peaceful. I can't explain it, but things I generally worry about just seem to slip away. I just wish that feeling would last after I get home! :)
